Richard Martin Hirsch

A native of Los Angeles, Richard’s film credits include Auld Lang Syne (Exec. Producer); several episodes of the web series, Married Without Kids (Exec. Producer) and Flip and Glib…and the Theory of Everything,a new comedic web series which he both wrote and produced and which has screened at a number of Web and Film Festivals, including LA Webfest, The Rome Web Awards, The Atlanta WebFest and the New Media Film Festival, garnering a number of nominations and several awards for writing, acting, direction, and production. As a screenwriter, Richard was awarded First Prize in the 2004 Fade-In Screenwriting Competition (Drama) for The Hobbyist and was a two- time Semi-Finalist in the Nicholl Fellowship Competition, for The Mary Incident and Strange Luck, as well as being a Finalist for the Diane Thomas Screenwriting Award for Russell’s Luck.  In 2013 his screenplay, Leah, Light, and Sound, was named a Finalist in the 2013 New England Women in Film and Video Annual Screenwriting Competition. And his feature-length Dark comedy, Beach In Winter, is currently in pre-production and scheduled to begin filming in January, 2017.

Additionally, as a playwright, Richard’s work has been performed in Los Angeles and throughout the country, including New York, Chicago, and Boston. In 2010 he received the STANLEY DRAMA AWARD for his new play, The Restoration of Sight. Productions include The Closeness of the Horizon; London’s Scars; The Concept of Remainders (Ovation and LA Weekly Award nominations); Atonement (LA Weekly Award nomination); The Monkey Jar; The Quality of Light (Ovation Award nomination); and Before We Go Home (a Moving Arts’ Car Play) at the La Jolla Playhouse. He is currently a member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre (LA) Theatre Company.
